Kenton-on-Sea - Activities report 2025 REPORT FOR 2025 ON THE IC PHILANTHROPY PROGRAMME IN KENTON-ON-SEA Both Coach Khaya and I agree that 2025 has been the quietest year in the 11 years of the Kenton-on-Sea philanthropy programme. A few key factors can be pinpointed, but without going into specifics, we still managed to complete 90% of our planned coaching sessions. What we did not do this year was undertake any long tours except for two trips (250km round trip) to Port Elizabeth to participate in junior tournaments. Closer to home children participated in 2 social events in Grahamstown (120Km round trip). No players were made available for provincial teams, but we will do so again this year. The children continue to take part in Life Skills classes at school. This is a project initiated by the Kariega Game Reserve’s Outreach Foundation but is actually presented by our Coach and interns he has trained. We do have some plans for 2026 which include very specific goals for the Class of 2026. A planning workshop is to be held later in January, and we are excited about introducing some new goals and activities for the children. From a financial point of view some R20000 was not used. The reason for this is almost entirely because 1) we were able to negotiate the use of a small bus belonging to the Kariega Game Reserve’s Outreach programme. This came complete with full tanks of fuel. The longer trips to Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown were sponsored in this way. East Cape Tennis also assisted financially by waiving half of the entry fees for tournaments. The number of players in our programme has been very constant over the last few years. Children who started 4 or 5 years ago are still with us. They continue to be very enthusiastic, and attendance is around 90% for the boys. It will be interesting to see what the new group of children will do in the coming year. I will be submitting a request separately which will double the size of this Eastern Cape project. It is very much like the Kenton project and has the same challenges, specifically transport. Kindly see the document submitted to the ICPF. Our sincere thanks to the IC Philanthropy Committee for the continued support. We are privileged to be able to provide an initiative for the children from the local Township and trust we will be able to do so again in 2026. Leonie Grondel
