Weekly squad training

As has become a very pleasant tradition, chairman Mike Dunk entertained the Cape Town members to a breakfast whilst he was in the city on holiday.

Organized by the Cape Town committee of Lorna Krog, Yvonne Fichardt and Rusty Clement, they once again chose a beautiful wine farm, Hillcrest, in the Durbanville district with outstanding views across the wine growing area.

Nineteen members attended and I say” members” as there were some potential new members who enjoyed their first taste of an IC function. In view of the new and potential members, Mike Dunk explained the aims and objects of the club as well as highlights of what the South African branch had done during the last year.

The breakfast again gave us an opportunity of meeting our Cape members and ensuring that even though they are somewhat isolated from events in Johannesburg, we continue to cement the club as a whole as most events do take place in Johannesburg.

My sincere thanks to the sterling work that Lorna Krog and her committee do to ensure that the IC movement is alive and well in the Cape and hopefully occasions such as this breakfast ensure that they, members in the Cape, continue to feel part of this wonderful tennis family.
