Play and Stay for the beginners

Play and Stay for the beginners

In view of the number of younger and newer players that have come along, it was decided to hold an informal Play and Stay morning at Vosloorus. There is a resurgence of young and in some cases very young, players coming along and this idea was an excellent way to introduce them to the game of tennis.

In all 25 players took part in two sessions of play being coached in the formative stages of their training but mainly to let them have some fun, mix with other children and let them have a feel of the racket on the ball. Obviously there were no “winners and losers” but in fact they were all winners as they took part in this initiative.

It proved to be a very worthwhile exercise and something that whenever we get interest shown by the new comers whatever their age may be, that this type of starting point is ideal. Hopefully in 2021 we can expand on this and have similar sessions for tomorrows, hopefully, stars of the game.

With the club at Vosloorus having now been fully constituted and become an affiliate to Gauteng East Tennis Association as well as Tennis SA, the number of parents with small children has increased and this is an off shoot of the formalization of the club.
