A bit of history at Vosloorus

A bit of history at Vosloorus

Another step forward for the Vosloorus Tennis Club as for the first time in their history they took part in the Gauteng East winter league and played against Heidelburg Tennis club situated some 40 kms south of Vosloorus.

The pleasing aspect was that of the team of four men, two were our top junior players last year, Senele and Thabang and a third was our current best under 18 player Nkosikhona Ubisi. Although Vosloorus lost the match, Senele and Thabang had an excellent doubles result winning their match 9-3.

The fact that the club has now entered a team into the winter league, will mean that their younger players will now have a greater opportunity to advance their game. Both Senele and Thabang, although out of junior ranks, are a product of the IC development program and the league competition will ensure steady progress in their game. Nkosikhona will now have the chance to pit his skills against senior players in the province and will aid his progress whilst still playing junior tournaments.

One of the club members runs a restaurant in Vosloorus and the players went there after the match for lunch.

Now the next step is to get a ladies team playing league that will, hopefully, be in the near future.
